Kai once again was drawn to attention as Fisk gave her an assignment. With Black Cat and Vermin. Kai wasn't too pleased. She didn't need help to steal. It was almost insulting to her. Sure, she wasn't known yet as some amazing high-level theif, but that was because she didn't flaunt around in skimpy clothes, allowing people to know she was a thief....
Kai couldn't deny that she was nervous for Kenji. He was obviously here because of some power he must have, but Kai knew that Kenji and Gargan weren't exactly friends. And Gargan certainly didn't seem like he was going to forget that anytime soon.
Kai glanced at the Black Cat. She was probably insulted, herself. Kai rolled her eyes, expecting the flashy woman to have a snobby attitude about their assignment. After all, who did Black Cat think she was? She was probably one of those foolish thieves who uses her profits, instead of amassing them, like Kai.
Kai had it all worked out. She stole the necessities of life, as well as anything she could sell on the black market. The profits she made went into her, uh....bank account, which was a safe hidden away where no one would ever find it. Once Kai retired from stealing, she planned to live out the rest of her days in wealth and content. Since Kai didn't have a secret identity because she keeps herself hidden, wouldn't it seem suspicious if all of a sudden some poor freak came into a huge fortune like the one Kai had hidden?
Kai put a hand on Kenji's shoulder.
"Be careful around Gargan," she muttered. "I don't know what you can do, but I'm sure it's powerful. But Gargan is a monster. Just be careful. And if you need anything, just ask around the alleys for Butterfly. They'll tell you where to find me."
Kai smiled slightly at Kenji, then nonchalantly headed for the elevator.
