Vermin crept along the edge of the building, listening intently. He vaguely remembered his college days, and if there was one thing he remembered about college, it was abundance. Especially here, in the United States, a simple perusal through a college student's possesions and you could find a multitude of excess.
The wind had a slight chill to it, but Vermin didn't mind. His fur acted as an insulator against the elements, he never actually needed the torn sweater or slacks he wore, it was more out of some former sense of coverage that he had sought them out.
His ears perked as he drew underneath a certain window. This would be a good place to start. From the sound of things, the room was empty. Taking the risk, Vermin slowly rose higher, until he was standing tall enough to see in. Definitely empty. Of course, there was no guarantee it would stay that way for long. He had to work fast.
First, he tried pushing the window open, but it didn't work. So, he dug his nails into the weather-stripping and pulled. It didn't budge, so perhaps it was locked. His nails weren't strong enough to pierce the glass, so brute strength was the only option left. Closing his eyes tightly, Vermin slammed his fist into the glass. It didn't shatter, but he definitely felt some give. With another punch, he was through. He unlocked the window and pulled it open, wincing as a piece of glass cut his soft palm. He slid in and glanced around, taking quick stock of his surroundings. He tuned his ears toward the door and began to rummage through the mini-fridge.

Danny wiped a bead of sweat from his brow with his towel, as he journeyed on down the corridor of the dorms. He hadn't worked that hard in the Gym for a long time. It was nice to finally get a proper exercise.
For Danny, it felt like life was finally turning out the way it was supposed to. He was at University, studying hard (well, as hard as a student does), and was enjoying life. Most of all, his career as the Iron Fist was off to a good start. He'd taken out Boomerang and his associate (with a little help), and had taken out more than a few petty criminals. Things were turning up.
He tried to keep his eyes open as he reached the door to his dorm, his activities at the gym slowly catching up with him. He pulled out the key to his dorm, when he heard something. There was something inside. He frowned, confused as to how anybody could have gotten in. Then, panic hit him, as he realised his Iron Fist costume was inside his dorm, very badly hidden away. He quickly unlocked the door, and prepared himself to bolt in. He threw himself through, and took a defensive stance.

Vermin froze as he heard a key deactivating the lock. The food before him must have been too much for his mind to handle, if he was only noticing the approach now. Either that, or the owner of this room was very quiet. He scooped a bunch of stuff into his arms and prepared to bolt out the window. Less then a breath later, however, someone flew through the door, taking some kind of fighting stance. Vermin's eyes grew wide and he stumbled back toward the wall, dropping most of what he was carrying. Of course he had broken into the room of someone who knew who to kill him with their bare hands.
He was beginning to geek out, there were obviously only two options: fight or flight. It all depended on how much he wanted all of that stuff he dropped. Who knew the next time he would be able to get a haul such as this? A heartbeat or two later, he dove for some of the items he had dropped, scraping them together, dropping more as he scrambled. This was taking too long!

"What the hell are you?"
Danny was stunned for a moment in disgust, as he looked up and down at the freak before him. He noticed the fridge was open, and it seemed as though it was stealing his food. There was a pile of food on the floor which the thing had dropped at the sight of Danny. It began to scrabble to pick it up, and Danny just stared at it, confused and bewildered.
Suddenly, his sense came back to him, and he tried to block out the creature's bizarre appearance. He stepped forward and threw his fist at the creature's face, trying not to let the Chi build up in it. Although the thing wasn't exactly going to go and have a chat in a bar, he didn't want anybody to have any clue that he was the Iron Fist.
"You're gonna regret breaking in here, buddy."

"You're gonna regret breaking in here, buddy."
The man promptly punched Vermin in the face, giving him pause. OH, he was going to play it that way. Vermin dropped all of the stolen goods and clutched his face, scampering into the corner and whimpering. This was ridiculous, what had he done to deserve it? Can't this man spare the tiniest morsel to those less fortunate.
In a knee-jerk reaction to the pain, Vermin lunged at the resident, his claws angling to slash across his face. He had no right to deny Vermin what he had in excess. This man, apparently, had no compassion. Although, who could blame him? Vermin was despicable. Surely, Edward Morbius might have reacted the same? With that thought, Vermin's mind effectively shut down. Instinct drove him, a primal growl escaping his lips.

The creature headed into the corner and whimpered, and Danny instantly felt sympathy for it. He didn't know what the hell it was, but it obviously wasn't a monster out to kill him. He offered a hand out to the thing, feeling guilty for what he'd done, before everything kicked off again.
The thing leapt out at Danny, and scratched at his face, and Danny fell back in pain. He could feel blood trickling out of a scratch mark, and he winced as it did so. He wasn't expecting that. The creature growled towards him, as Danny stumbled up, clutching his face.
"You might have claws big guy, but I've got one hell of a powerful fist," Danny warned the thing as he charged towards him.
Despite his previous concerns and cautions, Danny began to charge his fist with Chi. It began to glow, becoming more and more intense as it did so. He pulled back his fist and swung it into the creature, a blast of power coming out of it as he did so.
"See what I mean?"

Vermin tried to dodge, but his attacker was just too fast. The fist connected and knocked the creature for a loop, knocking him back into the wall. Ignoring most of the pain, Vermin jumped straight back up and quickly glanced around. The room was rather small and did not permit much manuevering. Perhaps he should have run. But there is no time for thinking! Before he could really come up with a plan, Vermin was moving again, jumping up onto the bed, the jumping up so that his feet were planted on the wall, pushing off toward his opponent, hoping to rip his face to shreds with his claws and teeth.
