Felicia sat in chemistry class, taking notes dutifully. She was being the good girl everyone wanted her to be- excellent in academics, extracurricular activities, and pretty as could be. No one ever bothered to think of how stressful it was for her. They just assumed it was all in a day's work for Felicia Hardy.
The teacher stopped talking. "All right people, choose your lab partners. We're going to do a short experiment on acids and bases." He went on to explain the experiment, saying they were going to be determining the pH of various substances. Felicia bit the top of her pen. She just hoped she didn't have to turn Flash again in his request to be her lab partner. She knew he just wanted to be with the hot blonde girl who could help him get an A. Well, the boy was plenty hot, but he was dumb as a doorknob, so no way.
Quickly, she shouted "Parker!" She knew it was selfish to take the boy genius who could probably calculate moles and electron orbits in his sleep, as she didn't really need anyone to help her with the lab. But he was the first person she saw and she knew he wouldn't screw up the experiment.
Now all she had to do was worry about him thinking she was seriously into him. Or someone starting a rumor that said she was.

When the teacher announced to get partners, Demeter's first two choices where immediately taken when Felicia called out to Peter. Of course, the two smartest in the class would end up as partners. Demeter sighed, biting her lower lip. She was great in earth science, but this was chemistry. Not up her alley. Demeter's eyes drifted to the window, and she sighed again. She longed to be out there, in nature, with her squirrel friends. But instead, she had to go to school. That was one of the few things that Demeter missed about her father: She was homeschooled. Basically, that meant they would go camping or hiking or something, instead of her actually learning anything you do in school. Being the new girl wasn't easy, especially when you're an out-doors, homeschooled girl suddenly in the public school system of the big city. No one wanted to be Demeter's partner. Who wants to partner with the weird new girl? Demeter didn't mind that much. After all, she'd much rather be out side with the squirrels and other animals, instead of with humans. But she needed a partner for this assignment. And she didn't want to really get stuck with the other loser who couldn't find a partner. Her gaze went back to Felicia and Peter. Why couldn't she end up with one of them?!

Kenji looked behind him (he was sitting at the front of the class). Who'd be a good partner? Someone clever, Peter? No that wouldn't be ... or would it? It's just a project, and it's not like anything wou- "Parker!"
Kenji's head moved away from Parker to Felicia Hardy. Dang, Blast and ******. That's what he got for thinking too much. Kenji sighed and started looking for a new partner, after most of the others got paired up he was left with three options. A) That egotistical Jock who threw Kenji into a dumpster. B) That weird kid who sniffed a lot and was always ill. C) Or the new girl who was staring out a window.
Kenji looked between the three and decided his best bet was the new girl. Kenji got up and tapped her on the shoulder, she was currently spacing out looking through the window. "Um ... was it Dementor?" No, that was from Harry Potter, what was it? Demonter? Demoter? Demotee? Demeter? Davina? No wait the last one! Demeter! "Demeter! Sorry! Sorry! ... Um do you have a partner yet?"
